Toyo Sushi is a modestly sized sushi restaurant tucked into a corner of the shopping area on E Morada Lane in Stockton. The location is easy to miss at first glance, with a subtle storefront that blends into the surrounding strip mall, but locals have made it their go-to spot for straightforward, satisfying Japanese fare.

Inside, the atmosphere is casual and unpretentious, which matches the practical menu. The seating is cozy rather than spacious, making it ideal for quick dinners or relaxed, no-fuss meals rather than large group gatherings or celebratory occasions. The staff, including the manager or owner, are consistently noted for being polite and approachable, creating a welcoming environment where regulars feel comfortable bringing friends and family.

The menu balances sushi rolls with classic entrees like teriyaki and tempura, plus sashimi options. Highlights often mentioned by diners include rolls like the Beast Roll, Volcano Roll, and unique offerings such as the Special Columbia Roll and Toyo Special Roll, which reflect a local twist on popular sushi trends. Portion sizes tend to be generous, making it a solid pick for those wanting a filling meal without overcomplicating the experience.

People who appreciate straightforward sushi and Japanese dishes will find Toyo Sushi meets those expectations without pretense. The restaurant’s pace suits weekday dinners or casual weekend visits, with fairly quick service that fits a relaxed yet efficient dining rhythm. For those stopping by after a day’s work or errands, it’s a comfortable spot to enjoy a warm serving of chicken teriyaki, an assortment of tempura, or a sushi combo featuring fresh sashimi and crunchy rolls.

Overall, Toyo Sushi fits into Stockton’s dining scene as a practical, no-frills sushi place where locals can count on consistent flavors, amiable service, and a quiet meal away from busier corner restaurants. Its understated presence and dependable menu make it appealing to anyone seeking straightforward Japanese cuisine in a low-key setting.

I ordered bay bridge sushi, it's really yummie like what it looks, and the asparagus stick is crunchy. 3 items dinner for 15.99 but all from chicken. If orders with beef 18.99. The sevice is quite fast, the restaurant is not that big. It will be my go to for japanese foods. Update 4/1/2024 They raise the price, and then they still serve less meat on the order. See my previous picture and the current picture.

I love this place! The staff is always super nice...I think it's the owner (or mgr) he's so polite & helpful. The food is always great tasting. We both got the dinner special & shared a fried Philly roll! The hot tea hit the spot! On my way out I saw a cute cup with sake...I had to buy it to go!

Good sushi for the area, limited selection. The restaurant it tucked away in the corner when you walk from the parking lot. I almost missed it walking up because there is no clear sign. We ordered the dragonfly roll, salmon handroll & soft shell crab.

Toyo Sushi has fast become not only my favorite sushi spot in Stockton but one of my favorite restaurants anywhere! The sushi is fresh and delightful to the tastebuds. The one thing that AMAZES me though is the customer service. On just our second trip in they remembered that I like substituting soy wrap on any rolls that I get. Even now months later they always know what I like. It’s hard to find places like this anymore. It looks like just a hole in the wall across from Starbucks but in my opinion it doesn’t get any better for sushi in the City of Stockton.
